| Nathalie
Tremblay was born in 1965, in Chicoutimi,
Quebec. She began studying classical ballet when she
was just four years old, and developed a life-long passion
for dancing. She was a ballet dancer for over 15 years,
from 1969 to 1984. Between 1970 and 1989, she studied
other forms of dance, ranging from jazz to modern, balladi,
flamenco and tango.
Nathalie holds a degree in fashion
design, and won an award as one of Quebec's most
talented young designers. She worked as a fashion designer
for several years, before turning to a different field
and working as an artistic director in films. She also
holds a degree in fashion business
management from LaSalle College, and a Bachelor
of Arts from the Université de Montréal
and the École des Hautes Études Commerciales
(HEC) in marketing, advertising
and art history.
She has enjoyed many different outdoor sports since
her youth, including alpine and cross-country skiing,
windsurfing, river canoeing, etc., and has even taken
courses as a pilot.
She
has been involved in expeditions and mountaineering
since she met Bernard
Voyer.
1983-1987: Won
all Quebec windsurfing (funboard) championships.
1986: Won second
place in the Canadian windsurfing (funboard) championships.
1995: Skied across
Baffin Island in
the Canadian Arctic (200 km).
1995: Logistics
manager for a Canadian first, the crossing of Greenland
by Bernard Voyer and his team of Thierry Pétry
and Benoît Roy.
1996: Logistics
manager for the South
Pole expedition by Bernard Voyer and Thierry Pétry.
She flew to the South Pole to pick them up, after they
became the 9th and 10th people in the world to cross
Antarctica to the South Pole unassisted.
1996: Made many
climbs in the Alps
and the Rockies.
1997: Trained on
Mount Maipo, and
made an attempt on Mount
Aconcagua, Argentina; reached 6,000 m.
1997: Logistics
manager at the base camp (5,400 m) for Bernard Voyer's
Everest attempt.
1998: On December
21, stood on top of Kilimanjaro,
the highest point in Africa (5,895 m).
1999: Logistics
manager at the base camp (5,400 m) for Bernard Voyer's
successful Everest
expedition.
Dec. 99 to Jan. 2000:
Successfully climbed four Andean mountains in Ecuador:
Fuya Fuya
(4,200 m), Mount
Imbabura (4,620 m), Mount
Cotopaxi (5,897 m) and Mount
Chimborazo (6,310 m).
July 2000: Member
of an international expedition to Mount
Carstenz, Indonesia (4,884 m).
October 14, 2000:
First Quebec woman to reach the summit of Mount
Elbrus, the highest peak on the European continent
(5,642 m).
July 2, 2001: Reached
the summit of the highest peak in North America, Mount
McKinley (6,194 m).
November 10, 2001:
She stood atop the world's coldest peak, Mount
Vinson (4,987m) in Antarctica .
January 5, 2003:
Bernard and Nathalie reached the summit of Australia,
Mount Kosciuszko,
