1953 Bernard Voyer was born on March 7, in Rimouski.
1970 Bernard climbed his first mountains, in the Canadian Rockies, including Mont Cascade (2 998m).
1978 He skied across Baffin Island for the first time (200 kilometres). He would do so again three more times, in 1990, 1991 and 1995.
1979-97 5000 km by canoe in various parts of Quebec.
1979 600 km by canoe down the roaring De Pas and George Rivers, from Schefferville to Kangiqsualujjuaq, to Ungava Bay.
1980-90 Ten treks adding up to thousands of kilometres throughout the High Atlas mountains of Morocco.
1980-91 Many different climbs in the French Alps.
1989 He crossed the Great Western Erg region of the Sahara desert.
1991 200 kilometres by canoe down the La Romaine River on the Lower North Shore of Quebec.
1992 A world first: Bernard skied across the four icecaps of Ellesmere Island (1 000 km).
1993 First Canadian to reach the North Magnetic Pole on skis.
1994 Bernard reached the North Geographic Pole from Siberia, leaving from a floating scientific base.
1995 First Canadian to ski across Greenland, 650 km from east to west. Communicated by satellite telephone.
1996 Thierry Pétry and Bernard Voyer crossed the Antarctic and reached the South Pole on skis, with no outside assistance, on January 12, at 10:47 a.m. It took them 65 days to cover 1 500 km, each of them pulling a 170 kg load.
1997 Bernard reached the summit of Mont Maïpo (5 100m) in Argentina.
1997 On January 12, he reached the summit of Aconcagua (6 959m) in Argentina, the highest mountain in the Americas.
1997 First Everest attempt. Bad weather kept him from reaching the summit.
1998 On December 21, he reached the summit of Kilimanjaro (5 896m), highest mountain on the African continent.
1998 He canoed down the Rupert River.
1999 On May 5, Bernard Voyer reached the summit of Mount Everest (8 850m), the highest mountain on Earth.
1999 Ecuador: ascent of Fuya Fuya 4 280m. Summit December 15.
1999 Ecuador: ascent of Imbabura 4 621m. Summit December 19.
1999 Ecuador: ascent of the highest active volcano on earth, the Cotopaxie, 5 897m. Summit December 27.
2000 Colombia: ascent Cumbal an active volcano at 4 764m. Summit January 6.
2000 Ecuador : ascent of the country’s highest mountain, the Chimborazo 6 310m. Summit January 9.
2000 July 15, the first Quebeker to summit Mount Carstensz 4 884m, the highest peak of Oceania.
2000 October 14, he summited Mount Elbrus 5 642m, the highest mountain of the European continent.
2001 On July 2sd, Bernard, Nathalie and Dorjee Sherpa, have reached the summit of Mount McKinley (6 194m.) the highest summit of the North American continent.
2001 On December 10, he stood atop the world's coldest peak, Mount Vinson (4 897m), in Antarctica, crowning his exceptional World Tour via the highest mountain each of the seven continents.
2003 On January 5th, Bernard and Nathalie reached the summit of Australia, Mount Kosciuszko, 2 228m.
2004 Reached the top of Mount Fuji, Japan at 3 776m on July 4.
2005 May 21th : Once again on the top of Mount Fuji.
By reaching both poles, circling the globe with its tremendous exploits, Bernard Voyer becomes one of a very rare breed of modern explorers.

The Rocher Blanc section of the hiking trail along the Rimouski shore was named for Bernard Voyer.

The Order of Canada, the highest Canadian distinction awarded in recognition of lifetime achievements, in recognition of individuals whose contributions have made a difference for the country. Mr. Voyer received this recognition for his exploits as an explorer and mountain climber.
